We all have those days where we feel as though nothing is going right; like the world is out to get us, especially during the school semester. You might accidentally miss a homework assignment, wake up late for your morning class, or forget a book you needed for class that day. When bad incidents happen we feel like there is no solution to any of them. However, there are ways to turn your day around and stick to the lifestyle of being positive in your everyday life.
One tip on staying positive is to surround yourself with people who also have a positive look on life. If you are constantly hanging out with a group of friends that bring you down, it is going to put you in a negative mind set. Always make sure that your friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, or whoever you dedicate your time to, makes you feel happy no matter how bad of a slump you may be in.
When approaching a difficult situation or task, go into it with a positive attitude instead of a negative one. Say you have tons of homework to get done and all you want to do is quit and not try at all. Instead, tell yourself that as long as you pace yourself, everything will get done eventually and it will be fine.
One important aspect in achieving positivity is to not dwell on situations that you can’t change. I think we’ve all been there where we just can’t let things go no matter how hard we try. However the majority of things that we may dwell on, are things we wish we could have done differently and things that brought us down. Instead of dwelling on them, accept the past and move on to bigger and better choices. Start with a clear mind, accepting the past, knowing you can’t change it, and know there is positivity coming your way.
There is nothing like walking around in the hallways of school or walking on campus and just getting a simple smile from someone. I know that a stranger who takes the time to smile or even holds the door open for me, can turn my whole day around if I’m having a bad one. Not only can someone doing something nice for you make you feel happy, but also giving that back in return. One way to stay positive is to give off positivity yourself. Be friendly to people around you, ask them if they need help, give a smile or “hello” to someone walking past you, or even help someone through a tough situation if they ask. Giving off positivity can help you stay positive on the inside as well.
Whenever I am going through a hard time, I tend to stay very closed off and not want to explain my problems to anyone. However, asking people for advice and knowing that you have someone there for you is very important. It can be your parents, friends, close relatives, even someone at school; whoever you feel comfortable with to go to for advice.
Positivity can be very hard to achieve and with the stress of school, it can seem impossible. However, with these guidelines and tips helping you along the way and giving it time, it can be accomplished.
