Welcome back to my new series where I recap the housewives franchise. This week we will discuss Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Arguably the second best in the franchise, Beverly Hills has fed me and my mother for the last 15 years.
The show premiered on Oct. 14, 2010, on Bravo. The original cast consisted of Kyle Richards, Kim Richards, Lisa Vanderpump, Taylor Armstrong, Adrienne Maloof and Camille Grammer.
All women lived in the ritzy and rich town and boy did they make sure to showcase all the glamour.
This show introduced me to Rolls-Royces, Birkin bags, Chanel, yachts, caviar and those eye rolling rich laughs that are so distinct.
Also, introduced me to domestic violence and how invisible it can be.
Taylor was being physically and mentally abused at home and needed reconstructive surgery.
They filed for divorce in July 2011 and the following month her ex-husband Russell killed himself.
We have seen cast shakeups throughout the years, but I believe the best cast was season 11.
We were blessed with Garcelle Beauvis, Kyle Richards, Sutton Stracke, Dorit Kemsley, Erika Jayne, Lisa Rinna and Crystal Kung Minkoff.
Season 11 was the downfall of Erika Jayne’s marriage and luxurious lifestyle. Jayne was swept into her husband Tom’s lawsuits that totaled millions of dollars due to her suspected engagement in fraud.
Each week she was getting whacked left and right by the audience and most importantly the cast.
The one who gave her the most hell was none other than her nemesis Sutton. Sutton questioned her role in the lawsuits and how could Erika not have been aware.
Needless to say, Erika finally crashed out at a dinner party hosted by the queen of Beverly Hills, Kathy Hilton.
Now for other notable seasons there were iconic fights embedded in my mind for eternity such as the infamous Amsterdam trip.
In season 5 episode 6, the cast took their season trip to Amsterdam. During dinner all hell broke loose when Kim and Lisa had a fury showdown over Lisa being nosey about Kim’s sobriety.
“Let’s talk about the husband,” Richards said.
The air was sucked out of the room and time stopped. Lisa threw her glass of champagne at Kim and threw the glass on the table where shards flew everywhere.
Sigh…that moment was pure cinema. Unfortunately, we have notseen a blow out to that extent since.
I think my most hated woman on this show is Teddi Mellencamp and her arrogance and always kissing Kyle’s butt because she is the og of the show.
I can not even recall Teddi’s storyline or even anything pertaining to her personal life. What I do remember is getting into other people’s business like Puppygate, which I refuse to get into because it was a headache.
Teddi created drama with Denise Richards by spreading rumors around the group. She said Richards and former housewife Brandi Glanville had a lesbian affair.
Interestingly, Teddi’s best friend Kyle Richards has been accused of having a lesbian relationship with country singer Morgan Wade, yet we haven’t heard a peep from her and it has been almost three years.
In fact, next season Kyle needs to confirm or deny because she literally has no storyline since she does not want to discuss her ongoing divorce.
Like hello, she got her name tattooed on her after being friends for a few months.
So, Andy Cohen if you are listening then please pull the cushion from underneath Kyle because she has been too comfortable for the last 15 years being a bore.
