The South By Southwest music and film festival happened this month. It went from Mar. 7-16 in Austin, Texas. While some people got turnt up, others threw up and got thrown up on. During Lady Gaga’s performance, vomit painter Millie Brown threw up on her. I didn’t know vomit painter was a possible profession and it was reported that this was planned. Brown stuck her hands down her throat and threw up some green substance onto Lady Gaga, and Gaga just continued with her performance. This didn’t sit well with Demi Lovato since she suffered from an eating disorder in the past. Lovato claimed that the performance was glorifying eating disorders. She went on a Twitter rant tweeting, “Sad… As if we didn’t have enough people glamorizing eat disorders already.” “Bottom line, it’s not “cool” or “artsy” at all.” Lovato got some Twitter backlash from supporters of Gaga and Brown, but she responded tweeting that as an artist you need to watch what you do because you have people that look up to you and can imitate what you do. She also said that as an activist she’s not afraid to speak her mind and not have people agree with her because when you don’t speak up, you won’t be heard.
There’s some trouble in the rap/hip-hop community. Chris Brown is in jail now after being arrested on St. Patrick’s Day. It was reported that he was kicked out the rehab facility he was staying at and a warrant was out for his arrest for leaving the facility. It was also reported that he was in too close a contact with a female while in rehab. Kanye West now has to pay the price for attacking a paparazzi at the Los Angeles International Airport last year. He has a 24-month probation, he has to do 240 hours of community service, complete 24 sessions of a level-two anger management program, and turn himself in to the LAPD for a formal booking. Personally, I’d be interested in seeing some video footage of Kanye in his anger management program.
