On Thursday, April 2, WSIN Radio revived SINFEST, a live concert that brought students together for a night of music, celebration and community. Performances included P.R.I.S.M, Sideshow, and SALIMATA.
The event showcased the station’s role in promoting student voices and local talent.
The night opened with a standout performance from sister duo, sociology major Nailah Herbert and psychology major Nyenye Herbert, juniors, who lit up the stage with their stage presence and natural chemistry.
“I loved the show. The crowd was amazing and matched our energy completely. Shout out to WSIN Radio for having us perform with the other talented artists that we shared the stage with. I can’t wait until the next one,” Nailah said.
As the duo moved effortlessly between sharp lyricism and playful confidence, they immediately energized the crowd.
This not only truly set the tone for the night but also highlighted the depth of talent within the student body.
As students themselves, their presence resonated strongly with the audience, setting an exciting energy for the night.
“I had a beautiful time, was able to express myself and share my art with others who seemed to enjoy it as well great atmosphere altogether,” Nyenye said.
Tigrayan rapper Sideshow brought powerful and dynamic presence to the stage.
Born in Tigray, raised in the DMV, and now based in Los Angeles, his music reflects a blend of global influences and personal experiences that resonate throughout his work.
Sideshow delivered a high-energy set by pulling the crowd in with his lyricism and introspective delivery. His storytelling and authenticity left a lasting impression.
Next, Brookylnborn rapper Salimata took the stage with a presence that was impossible to ignore.
Blending the confidence of a seasoned performer with the creativity of a lifelong poet, she brought a vibrant energy that immediately lit up the room.
SINFEST, a formerly long-standing event that has not taken place in many years, was celebrated by attendees; this made the night feel even more significant.
Bringing back the tradition was a dream for communication major Gerryiki Williams, a junior and the WSIN Radio General Manager.
“SINFEST returned with a massive bang; three incredible artists from around the east coast came and rocked the stage for us,” Williams said.
Williams reflected on how far the station has come in just a short amount of time thanks to the work and support from his team and campus community.
“SINFEST was a shining reminder of how far the club has grown over the course of just a few semesters. WSIN has created a community of amazing people who I look forward to seeing every day,” Williams said.
With the successful return of SINFEST, the radio station is already looking ahead, with more shows planned for next semester.
As momentum builds, students can expect even more opportunities to come together and connect through music.
WSIN will host autotune karaoke on Tuesday, April 14 at 5 p.m. in Adanti Student Center Room 301.
