Gymnastics celebrates senior day

On Sunday, Feb. 15, the university gymnastics team fell to the University of Bridgeport 192.625–192.525 in a close dual meet on Senior Day at James Moore Field House.

The Owls opened on vault, where gymnasts Haley Fitzgerald and Jordan Villani, sophomores, led the lineup with matching scores of 9.700 as the team totaled 48.150. 

On the uneven bars, gymnast Gabriela Dinisoe, a junior, posted the university’s team‑best 9.650, followed by strong routines from gymnast Lola Sepulveda, a senior, and gymnast Zoe Axell, a sophomore, to help the university reach 47.825.

The Owls continued on balance beam, where gymnast Mia Damiano, a senior, recorded a university team‑high 9.700. 

Gymnast Maria Chronopoulos, a sophomore, and gymnast Angelina Stanfa, a junior, added solid routines as the team collected a 47.750. 

The university closed the meet with its strongest rotation of the afternoon on floor. Gymnast Abby Royer, a senior, delivered a standout of 9.850.

Sepulveda also finished second in the all‑around with a total of 37.700. 

The university will return to competition on Sunday, Feb. 22 for a dual meet at the University of New Hampshire.
