Music Critic Anthony Fantano shares inspiring words.

On Aug. 25, the incoming freshman class walked the stage of the Lyman Center. The New Student Convocation and Rite of Passage Ceremony symbolized the start of growth, discovery and achievement for our newest Owls. The ceremony encouraged students to embrace college with an open mind. New students were supported by peers, staff and faculty and welcomed with traditions and messages. Alumni Anthony Fantano, American music critic and internet personality, was one of the speakers present. He gave a speech to encourage Owls on the beginning of their walk down a path of both opportunities and challenges. Students then passed through the Founders Gate to finish off their induction into the university community. Cheering them on and sharing high fives, everyone moved to a barbecue behind Engleman Hall afterwards.
