New Haven is an excellent scene for any college student looking for a riveting music experience. In music of all genres, live performances provide audiences with a pure and natural music experience, devoid of the technical aspect of studios. This coming November, venues across New Haven will be hosting various musicians and bands for music fans to jam along to.
Aaron Carter
Come see the early 2000s child star ‘Aaron Carter’ perform at Toad’s Place at 8 p.m. for $20 on Nov. 7.
‘Aaron Carter’ rose to fame with the hit songs “Aaron’s Party,” “That’s How I Beat Shaq” and “I Want Candy” featuring Hilary Duff. Come see the former teen sensation sing pop music for ages 16 and up.

Richie Kotzen
On Nov. 9 the venue Toad’s Place in New Haven will be hosting a concert lead by the amazingly technical guitarist ‘Richie Kotzen.’
Toad’s Place will open its doors at 7 p.m. to let anyone over the age of 16, for tickets starting at 25$ see the talented guitarist play.
Richie Kotzen was a one time member of the 80s glam band ‘Poison’ helping make the record ‘Native Tongue.’ Kotzen also works on personal projects and albums with his blues band, ‘The Winery Dogs.’
Laundry Day
The independent rock band ‘Laundry Day’ will be playing at Café 9, 250 State St, New Haven for ages 21 and up on Nov. 7.
‘Laundry Day’ was founded in 2014 by local New Haven artist Alexander Burnet and several of his friends. The band delivers a soothing alternative rock feel great for a night out with friends.
Gary Grippo and Friends
This free event on Nov. 8 at Café 9, from 4:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. will feature the jazz talents of ‘Gary Grippo and Friends.’
They create a great ambience environment with their classic jazz renditions. The event will be for ages 21 and up.
The Singles, Chaser Eight, and The Danbury Lie
On Nov. 12 at 9:30 p.m. for ages 21 and come and see three stellar bands perform at the venue Bar Pizza.
‘The Singles’ is a garage rock band formed in 2012 that incorporates many styles to create both original and heartfelt compositions. They are currently on tour throughout America.
The North Haven rock group ‘Chaser Eight’ features soothing harmonies from their vocalist ‘AUDRA’ who works alongside with the bands Ukulele and guitar accompaniment.
‘The Danbury Lie’ is a rock band featuring ambient sounds, they will play alongside ‘The Singles’ and ‘Chaser Eight.”
At 8 p.m. on Nov. 15 the John Lyman Center for the Arts will feature the talents of trumpeter ‘Chris Botti.’
This Grammy Winning artist will perform for SCSU students and staff for an evening of intricate brass playing. Audiences can hear the hit songs from the albums, “December” and “When I Fall in Love.”
Stella Blues Bar
Sign up at 8 p.m. every Tuesday at the Stella Blues Bar in New Haven for an exciting open mic night. The ‘Seth Adam Trio’ will open around sign up will bands and musicians prepare to broadcast their skills.
Musicians can then show up with their own equipment and play 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in an open mic extravaganza. Following will be a 40 minute performance from a featured artist at 10:30 p.m.
To close the night artists can cover 15 minute or three song sets.
