At halftime, it looked as if Southern’s six-game win streak would come to an end.
However, the Owls dominated the second half and used their fast tempo to go on a 21-1 run and defeat UMass-Lowell, 79-71, in a Northeast-10 Conference game at Moore Field House.
The Owls are now 9-3 overall, 7-2 in Northeat-10 competition.
SCSU was down 44-40 before the run to take a 61-51 lead with 10 minutes left.
SCSU had four players in double-digits. Freshman Mariah Hankton led the Owls with 22 points and four assists. Keshia Primo had 18 points and three assists. Sylvonya Moore had 14 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and one block.
Junior Bianca Simmons led UMass-Lowell with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assisits. Sha’Nay Busnher had 17 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists. Danielle DePierro had 14 points and four rebounds.
