Students gathered on Sept. 10 in the Academic Quad for Lantern Lights and Karaoke Nights, an evening of music, food and flying lanterns.

Nursing major Breanna Creighton, biology pre-medicine major Patience Alamu, communication disorders major Josie Kieras, business administration major Imani Gayle and health care studies with a concentration in stem foundations in nursing major Maria Marrero-Sanchez, sophomores, holding up their lanterns.

Hosted by Programs Council, the event featured high energy karaoke performances, with students singing their favorite songs.

Physical education PK-12 major Ryad Benmessaoud, a freshman, singing for his peers.

Attendees also enjoyed free snacks and refreshments in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. One of the night’s highlights was the chance to personalize and release glowing lanterns.

Students lined up outside Buley Library to collect lantern supplies and sign up for karaoke.

Students decorated them with drawings, quotes or personal messages before watching them rise into the night sky.

The event offered students a chance to unwind, connect and celebrate campus life.
