Gymnasts line up for national anthem at the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championships.
The Gymnastics team finished off their season with big results, sending three athletes to the event finals at the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championships on April 11.
The team as a whole finished in fifth place out of eight teams, however, Libby Allen and Erica Beyer, senior, qualified for the event individual finals for the floor exercise, while sophomore Gabriela Dinisoe made it to the beam finals.
“I just did everything that I’ve been doing throughout the whole year. I just try to stay calm and then know that it’s my gymnastics that brought me to where I was,” Dinisoe said. “It’s like a normal meet, honestly, but there’s a little more pressure. It’s very fun.”
Beyer and Dinisoe both medaled in their respective events. Dinisoe took third place on beam with a score of 9.8125, her best result this season.
Allen finished seventh on the floor with a 9.8125, while Beyer finished tied for fifth on the floor in the last meet of her collegiate career, with a 9.8250. It was her top performance this season.
“It was honestly a surreal moment, just being with my teammates. I was just going out there having fun for my last meet and getting to enjoy the moment and then qualifying for event finals was just icing on the cake. Just having fun doing what I do normally, no pressure, it was like a relaxed situation,” Beyer said.
