Volleyball swept SNHU 3-0 to win their fourth game in a row as part of Homecoming Weekend at Southern.
The Owls (14-12, 7-4) also improved to 10-1 at home this season and defeated SNHU (8-9, 6-3) for the first time since 2014.
Alyssa Gage and Gabriella Vazquez totaled 13.5 for the Owls, while Vazquez also had 11 digs. It was Vazquez’s second consecutive double-double and her fourth of the season. Kirstin Colwell and Leanna Jadus added nine points each.
In the first set, the Owls and SNHU were tied at 13 midway though. The game game remained tied at 21 each before the Owls closed the set on a 4-1 run to win 25-22.
In the second set, the game was tied at 12 before the Owls took a 21-15 lead. SNHU would eventually cut the lead to 21-18 but the Owls would take the set 25-20.
In the third set, the game was once again tied near the midway point, this time at 11 each. The Owls would take a 23-15 lead but SNHU would eventually rally to tie the game at 24-24. The Owls scored the last two points of the game to win 26-24 and win the match.
Southern now sits in seventh place in the NE10 with five games remaining in the regular season. The top eight teams make the NE10 Conference Tournament.
