Halloween weekend events at SCSU and downtown New Haven

Halloween is right around the corner, signaling an adrenaline fueled weekend of Halloween festivities and Tim Burton films.  For those SCSU students that are looking for that extra thrill their Halloween weekend, New Haven and Southern will be hosting a plethora of events to entertain the college trick or treaters.

Haunted Hall Crawl & Costume Ball
For the college student itching to get out of the dorm room this holiday weekend, look no further than Yale’s Peabody Museum of Natural History costume ball. The famous museum will be hosting the event Oct. 30 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 170 Whitney Ave., New Haven, Conn.

Open to students and the public over the age of 18, visitors can party among some of the most classic historical exhibits on Yale University. The halls will be transformed into haunted corridors which will certainly bring up the scare factor. The event is $20 at the door and $15 for online pre-sale.

Deliver Us from Evil
Director Scott Derrickson’s horrifying new film Deliver Us from Evil will be screening at the ASC Theater at SCSU, 9 p.m. presented by ProCon. Join fellow classmates to be captured by one of the most thrilling horror films to arrive on campus.  You can discover the true evils that lurk behind mankind as a NY cop attempts to find one horrifying secret in this cinematic piece.  Also free pizza and wings never hurt.

Ghost hunter Lorraine Warren
Fans of the immensely popular horror movie, “The Conjuring” and the newest film to hit the theaters, “Annabelle” are in for a special treat on Oct. 30th 8 p.m. at the Lyman Center. There the ghost hunting legend herself, Lorraine Warren will arrive at Southern to recount her experiences with the supernatural and the unholy.  For only $8 with a SCSU ID, come and see firsthand the woman that inspired the making of the blockbuster films.  With tales that will strike fear in the heart and question the unknown around you.

Neff Halloween Bash
Come to the ever popular freshman dorm, Neff on Oct. 29th for one of the biggest all-nighters on campus.  From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. stay up all night to enjoy free food and candy. Students are welcome to come in their best Halloween attire to show off their spirit at the Neff basement.  Today’s hits will be played by a visiting DJ to make the event a safe and enjoyable place to spend the Halloween season.  Along with plenty of pool tables and ping pong for those avid fans.

Annual Haunted Halloween Bash
Hosted by the SCSU Office of Residence Life, come to the Farnham Programming Space from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 30th for a Halloween celebration. Party alongside to cookie decorating, scary movies, crafts and free food in this annual school event.  Remember to bring your scariest outfit from your closet for the costume contest (No masks) for a chance to win prizes and gift cards.

Haunted At the Hickerson
Navigate through a maze cluttered with spider webs and dangling hands in Hickerson Hall’s haunted maze, 9 p.m. through 11 p.m. on Oct. 29th.

Those who complete the haunted maze and array of strobe lights will earn a bag of goodies full of Halloween delights.

Holistic Halloween
Wilkinson RA Eileen and counseling services will be hosting this event of Oct. 28th, 7 p.m. in the spacious Wilkinson lobby.

Students can enjoy this time to make all of their favorite Halloween food crafts, and meet new people in the process.  Get the chance to create creepy Halloween masks and enjoy free smoothies and pizza to compliment all the frightful work you will be doing.
