Southern Connecticut State University’s football team dropped to a 1-3 record after losing to American International College 31-10. The Owls offense was slow all game only managing to throw for 75 yards, compared to the Yellow Jackets 261.
Freshman quarterback Ray Catapana said after the game, “Our offense had a little slow start but once we started to pick it up we started to see that these guys aren’t as intimidating as they may seem. We were getting what we needed to get but just like last week, we shot ourselves in the foot with a lot penalties.
There was some hope late in the fourth quarter for the Owls after senior defensive back Dion O’Joe, blocked a punt for a touchdown with 7:56 left in the game. But that was all the Owls would have left in the tank as the Yellow Jackets scored one more touchdown with 1:42 left dropping the Owls to 0-2 at home.
The Owls next opponent is against the Greyhounds Saturday October 4 at Jess Dow Field at 12 p.m.
