As for the women’s swimming and diving team, heading into the Ne-10 Championships, Quill said his team was short on swimmers but he knows his team would compete hard regardless. With a 11-year consecutive reign of winning the NE-10 championship, the lady Owls came in second place behind Assumption College (818 points). The Owls finished with a combined score of 684.
Senior, Anna Pleban, swam in the 200 yard butterfly and finished second with a time of 2:11.13. She said despite her team not finishing in first place, she couldn’t be any happier in her team because they competed really hard from start to finish.
“I am definitely proud of my entire team,” she said. “Everyone poured their hearts out in their races and I am so proud as a senior, as a captain, it just made me happy just knowing everyone gave it their all. Just winning the last relay was the cherry on the top and it feels great.”
Junior, Hannah Olson, finished in the top five in the 200 yard backstroke with a time 2:09:91. Olson said despite her team being undermanned, she is happy in the way they competed.
“I think our team swam their hearts out this week,” she said. “They did so well for only having 13 swimmers and two divers, we raced amazing compared to Assumption because they had way more girls than us so I think we did well.”
