Softball extends winning streak to six games

The Owls took back-to-back games against the No.14 Adelphi University last Wednesday winning the first game by a score of 2-1 and the second game by a score of 3-2.

The Owls only needed one swing of the bat to take a 2-0 lead in the third inning against Adelphi University to get the win 2-1.

The Owls were only able to get four hits against Panther’s pitcher Devon Kelly as she shut them out for six of the seven innings.

But the two-run homerun by Britney Bucko was enough for the Owls hold on for the 2-1 win.

Kelsey Cockrill got her tenth win of the season as she went all seven innings only giving up three hits and one run.

Yesenia Evaristo took the mound for the Owls in the second game.

The Owls won in exciting fashion the second game as senior second baseman Kate Hoffman delivered the game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Owls the win 3-2 over the Panthers.

Nicole Buch scored the run after walking with one out in the inning. Hoffman came to the plate, already 1-2 in the game and made it 2-3 as she singled the winning run home.

The Owls Softball team won in a shut out 7-0 against Northeast-10 rival College of Saint Rose.

The Northeast-10 rivals squared off in Albany as Kelsey Cockrill too the mound for the Owls. Cockrill pitched a shutout allowing only one walk while fanning eight in the 7-0 win and giving Cockrill her eleventh win of the season.

The game remained tied at 0-0 until the fourth inning. The Owls took command as they put four runs on the board.

The damange came off the bats of senior Alyssa Downs, junior Kelsey Marden and senior catcher Stacy Pouliot.

Pouliot had an RBI double while Downs and Marden contributed an RBI each.

This win made it the fourth straight win for the Owls heading in to the second game against College of Saint Rose on Sunday.

Jessica Van Alphan got her fifth win of the season as the Owls came away win another win over the College of Saint Rose by a score of 7-3.

Van Alphan went seven innings while allowing two earned runs and fanning three batters.

Saint Rose had an early 2-0 lead in the third inning. But were unable to hold onto that lead.

Poulit was able to lace a single to the outfield picking up an RBI and scoring Hoffman to make it 2-1. The Owls would tie the game at the end of the fourth after a wild pitch plating Nicole Crann.

Most of the Owls runs came in the fifth inning as Alyssa Downs had a two-run homer and the rest of the team played small ball getting two more runs in the inning making it 6-2 at the end of five.

The Owls would go onto win 7-3.

The Owls would also win the second game of the day against College of Saint Rose by a score of 6-2.

Yesenia Evaristo took to the mound for the Owls. Evaristo went seven innings only giving up two runs on six hits.

The Owls got right on the board in the first inning when Bucko crossed the plate to make the score 1-0.

A single by Marden later in the inning would plate Buch to make it 2-0.

With this win, the Owls have now won six straight games and have a season record of 22-14.
