Former President John F. Kennedy once said, “Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners, and necessity has made us allies. Those whom God has so joined together, let no man put asunder.” In direct relation with Washington, the question then is: can you, will you… please, get it together already and begin working as one?
Much emphasis is placed on the political parties of our day. On a daily basis, society as a whole is bombarded with comments and views of the Democrats, the Republicans, and the new Tea Party Movement. There is too much work being done in opposition from what I see as the main goal as being: namely, getting America working again and up on her feet.
Is it we, the people, that should be placed in the forefront or is it the pockets of our many politicians who say they have our best interests at heart? I sure thought it was we, the people. If that is the case, may I ask why nothing in the House is being passed? I look at Congress and I ask myself: are they working for us? Do you [Congress] have the best interests of America’s people at heart? The president has gone as far as to attempt to pass bills that are most integral in putting America back to work, yet are shot down by Congress. Pass the bills! Congress disagrees.
It is time for America to join forces and work together all while pushing forward. Enough is enough with the back and forth banter of the political parties. People as a group need to become actively involved in the direction of how they want their country to go in. This is your choice people! If you do not take a stand and make decisions that will affect you, your children, and your children’s children, well, then others will make it for you. This is about you and everyone involved. This is your future and your voice that deserves the respect to be heard and listened to. Without it, what is there?
Become actively involved: whether at school or in the workforce, become vocal in your government. The betterment of America needs to start somewhere, and the only way to do that is to not delay and to get involved in how you want your lives to be!
I grew up with the understanding that America is the land and home of the brave, where nothing is too small, and anything is possible. As long as you work hard, believe in God and do your absolute best, you can go anywhere. I say it is time for Washington to heed their own comments regarding our country and begin to work in unison. This is our future and it deserves the utmost respect and consideration. The question is: Where do we begin? With that said, the decision is in your hands, do what you will with it.
