On Feb. 22, a powerful winter storm brought blizzard conditions to the region, forcing the university to shut down operations Monday through Wednesday as crews worked to clear heavy snow and drifting walkways.

The closure created an unexpected pause in the semester, and students adapted by catching up on schoolwork, staying warm inside residence halls and taking time for themselves.

During the shutdown, Connecticut Hall stayed open on adjusted hours to provide meals while most campus buildings remained closed.

Facilities crews worked throughout the week to plow, salt and reopen major paths, preparing the campus for classes to resume later in the week.

The storm disrupted normal campus rhythms, but students adjusted to the slower pace as the university recovered from the significant snowfall.
