On April 15, the Programs Council hosted Owl Jam, one of the most anticipated events of the year.
Wilkinson Lot was transformed into a carnival for students to enjoy time outside with their friends while indulging in a variety of free offerings.
“I think the day is beautiful. It couldn’t have been a better day to have such an event on,” art design major Kaiya Bryant, a junior, said.

The carnival had an array of five different food and dessert trucks, two carnival rides, inflatables and games.
“The sun is out, and everybody’s happy. There’s a bunch of diverse food that you can go to and get, and it’s all really yummy. It’s all so perfect,” Bryant said.
Students could choose savory foods like wings, sandwiches and tacos and treats like ice cream, fried oreos and fried dough to satisfy their sweet tooth.
The diverse offerings were a highlight for many students. Accounting major Luke Martinez, a sophomore, said that the carnival allowed students to soak up the warm weather and go for a swing.
“The weather is really nice, and I’m excited to go on rides. But the food smells and tastes really good,” Martinez said.
ProCon delivered two rides this year: The Sizzler and The Swinger. Both were a major selling point for students, especially for those who have not been on rides in a long time.
“A highlight for me is that feeling I got when I was riding The Sizzler because I haven’t been on a ride like that since early high school. So, it was very nostalgic,” Bryant said.
On top of the two rides, there were multiple carnival games, including whack-a-mole and the water gun race. At these booths, students competed against each other to win prizes.
Attendees could also compete in the inflatable wrecking ball game, allowing friendly competition between friends.
All the unique elements made the day one students will not forget.
Many students look forward to Owl Jam every year, and even first timers said that the event surpassed their expectations.
“I just learned about Owl Jam, so it was a really nice surprise that I had so much fun today. It was really nice seeing my friends enjoy themselves,” exercise science major Alex Schwindt, a senior, said.
Schwindt said that the timeliness of the carnival was perfect for students.

“We work really hard, so I’m grateful we got to do something wholesome and fun before finals,” Schwindt said.
Every year, Owl Jam serves as a catalyst for the summer season, where students can enjoy each other’s company and create memories that will last a lifetime.
“It is all very fun; the rides are great. And the food is a nice touch. It is overall one of the best days of the year,” communication major Jonathan Christiano, a senior, said.
The Owl Jam tradition brought the university community together to exchange laughs and excitement.
Next year is sure to bring the same exhilaration, as anticipation already builds within the student body.
