The time has come. The time is now. The time to dominate again and be that point guard Chicago Bull fans are accustomed to seeing.
After suffering multiple knee injuries that required surgery and pretty much sat Derrick Rose out for two seasons, we saw where he is with his recovery during the FIBA (International Basketball Federation). There were stints where we had seen Rose and his explosive moves to the basket dunking with two hands easily.
But now that the FIBA tournament is over, it’s time for Rose to focus on an 82 game season; a season where his team is one of the favorites to win it all. Well, that’s only if Rose can last all 82 games and be just as good, if not better, than he was in his MVP season in 2011.
His explosiveness to the basket, passing defenders with ease for a layup or a powerful dunk that brings the crowd to their feet. But there was a scare early in the FIBA tournament where he said his knee was very sore. One thing that must be looked at this season is the pressure of letting his team down after two years of dealing with injuries.
In a matter of few weeks, Rose will have to prove to the NBA world with answers as he laces up his shoes, walks into the practice facility of the Chicago bulls, and puts on his practice jersey. Rose did say after USA won the FIBA tournament against Serbia 129-92, that he is feeling really good about himself and graded himself after his performance with an “A.”
“I’m going to transfer this on to next season with the Bulls,” said Rose. “It’s really helped me with my recovery. Being off the floor, taking care of my body, eating right. I was feeling good every time I stepped on the floor, stretching every time; I think it’s going to help me with the Bulls season.”
The Bulls first game is Oct. 6 against the Washington Wizards.
