Cruel Summer

Kanye West has put out an album with his label G.O.O.D. Music Group. The album features artist like Teyana Taylor, John Legen, Common, Pusha T and many more. This is the type of album that’ll have the bass in your car knocking. You want to turn this album up loud and just let it play. Kanye showed great artistry with this album along with the collaborations.

1. “To the World”  – This is the perfect song to start off the album. It features  Kanye West, R. Kelly and Teyana Taylor. The song has a great beat and the message can inspire anyone to do whatver he/she sets out to do. R.Kelly is the perfect one to put on a motivational uplifting song.

2. “Clique” – The beat to this song is out of this world. It features Kanye West, Jay-Z and Big Sean. All the artists put some work into their verses. They all went hard to rep for their “Cliques.”

3. “Mercy” – This song has gotten a lot of radio play. When it first dropped, I loved it but now I’ve heard it so much that I just skip over it. But overall, it is a good song with some decent artists.

4. “New God Flow” – This is one of the hottest songs on the album. It features Kanye West, Pusha T and Ghostface Killa. This song reminds me of old school hip-hop that many artist lack nowadays.

5. “The Morning” – This is another one of my favorites of the album. It features 2 Chainz, Raekwon, Pusha T, Common, Cyhi The Prynce, D’ Banj and Kid Cudi. The beat instantly makes your head rock. With an artist like Common, with his lyrical flow make this album great.

6. “Cold” – This is another one played on the radio. It’s catchy; everyone is repeating at least one line from this song. Kanye went hard with his lyrics and punchlines in this one. His arrogance and cockiness was fully apparent in this composition and it’s the one time when it doesn’t completely disgust me.

7. “Higher” – This song is catchy. When I first listened to the album this song actually caught my attention because it features The Dream, along with Pusha T, Ma$e and Cocaine 80s. The Dream is a great artist and I tend to like any music he makes. And the comeback of Ma$e is big because he was a big deal in the 90’s when he was with Bad Boy Records. So to have him on a record threw me for a surprise. It was completely unexpected.

8. “Sin City” – This isn’t a bad song, just not one of my favorites. It features John Legend, Travi$ Scott, Teyana Taylor, Cyhi The Prynce, and Malik Yusef. I do like the R&B feel that John Legend and Teyana Taylor bring to the song. The song tells a story. It’s very lyrical. I think if I listen to this one a few more times I will grow to like it more so I won’t count this one out just yet.

9. “The One” – This song features one of my favorite singers, Marsha Ambosius, so this was a “must listen” for me. The song also features Kanye West, Big Sean and 2 Chainz. This reminds me of the music Kanye made when he first came out. Music that tells a story that has significant meaning.

10. “Creepers” – Kid Cudi is the only artist featured on this song. The beat in the intro drew me in but once Kid Cudi starts rapping, my mind goes elsewhere, to the next song. I just couldn’t get into this one at all.

11.  “Bliss” – This is one of my favorites off the album. Maybe because it has an R&B feel and that’s the genre I’m comfortable with. This song features John Legend and Teyana Taylor. The song is relatable and very truthful. I have this one on repeat.

12. “Don’t Like” – This song is being played all over the radio waves. It’s not the best lyrically but it’s catchy and it’s relatable and that’s what sells. It features Kanye West, Chief Keef, Pusha T, Big Sean and Jadakiss.
