Epsilon security breach leaks information

Ryan Morgan, News Editor:

The office of information technology informed the Southern community last week of a security breach at Epsilon. Many major banks and retail stores were involved. Epsilon released a statement announcing an unauthorized entry into the Epsilon email system and noted only e-mail address and/or customer names were breached. No other personal identifiable information, such as social security numbers, credit card numbers or account information was leaked. The company says they are investigating the leak to identify those responsible.

The help desk warns people to be suspicious of any unsolicited contact by a company because they may not be legitimate.

The full list of companies, which includes Capital One, New York and Company, LL Bean and Walgreens, can be found here.
