Harry Styles’ Together Together tour serves as a reminder that live music should always be fun.

On Friday, Oct. 16, I had the opportunity to see Styles live at Madison Square Garden.

Having never seen him live before, this was genuinely a spiritual experience.

As New York is his only stop in America for this leg of the tour, people came from all over to see him perform.

The people that sat next to me were from Louisiana and the people behind me were from Brazil.

This shows not only how dedicated his fans are but also Styles’ ability to truly bring people together from all over the world.

Styles is also breaking his own record of 15 shows for one tour at Madison Square Garden, with 30 this time around.

Having been a longtime fan, watching him make history like this really brought out the fangirl in me.

Having seen so much about this tour from social media, I went into the show with high expectations. Those were exponentially surpassed to say the least.

Before the show, I got my Me and You Mocktail in the iconic light-up cup, because I had to get the entire experience.

There are also physical tickets that are given out at every show with a different design on the back.

Being able to have these unique pieces of memorabilia to commemorate the night is yet another aspect of the Together Together tour that sets it apart from others.

As for the show itself, there was not a dull moment.

One thing about Styles is that he knows how to put on a good show. There were light sequences that matched up with the music, designs on the stage that changed every song and of course, talented dancers.

Styles has always had a way of creating a community and ultimately a safe space for fans at his shows.

But above all, it was just so much fun. I was on my feet dancing the entire time, and so was the rest of the audience.

My favorite songs to see live were “Are You Listening Yet?” and “Kiwi.”

During a lot of the show he sang remixes of certain songs and had a few key changes which made these versions stand out and made me feel like I was experiencing these songs for the first time again, which I loved.

Getting to see my favorite songs performed live and in a room full of people that love Styles’ music as much as I do was so special.

One thing about this night in particular was that it was the second anniversary of Liam Payne’s death. Payne and Styles were good friends and bandmates in One Direction.

During the show, Styles not only addressed this, but sang an unreleased song that he said he wrote about Payne shortly after his passing.

To say that I was shocked is quite the understatement.

Everyone around me was crying and listening intently to every lyric that Styles sang as we all heard “What Is Enough?” for the first time.

He ultimately closed out the show with “Aperture,” which was the perfect ending in my opinion.

With the rumors that Styles is retiring after this tour ends in late 2027, I am even more grateful that I was able to attend.

Life is short, and singing my heart out in a sequined skirt on a Friday night is truly what reminds me of that.
