BOR approves tuition increase

After a meeting on Dec. 14, the Board of Regents, BOR, voted to raise tuition for all Connecticut State Colleges and Universities, CSCU, for the 2024-25 academic year.

The board approved a 5% increase in-state tuition to combat the university deficits across CSCUs.

With the increase among all Connecticut colleges, the campus is looking to find ways to find ways to find ways to increase certain line items such as housing.

According to the CSCU meeting, the university will see a 3% increase in housing and no percentage change in food services.

The BOR reports a deficit of over $125 million across the community colleges and almost $30 million at one of the state universities.

The BOR approved the decision despite the Faculty Advisory Committee (FAC) opposing the tuition increase.
