Checking-In on the Owls

The end of the semester is nearing closer and closer for  students, which is a relieving time for some while being stressful for others. Students’ mental health and well-being can be forgotten about in the midst of assignments and deadlines.

One term a student uses to describe her mental health is “burnt-out.” Kimberly Roig, a senior, is in her last semester of undergrad, and she spoke abut the stress that comes along with almost graduating.

“I feel like this is the worst time for students who are graduating because you also have to think about what you’re about to do post-grad,” said Roig. “I’m a little tired and my mental health is deteriorating, but I’m almost there and that’s all that matters.”

Another student realizes that school can be stressful, but is continuing to look at the bright side of things.

“School is hard, but if you are determined with your work, you are going to be able to succeed,” Allen Livits, a junior, said. “I feel like the semester has been a rollercoaster, but there has been more upside than downside.”

Livits has a message to Southern students: “We live for SCSU, so the ride can’t be a downfall, but only an upbringing!”

The semester that has been mentally-taxing for the Owls, but with the idea that the work can be done and it is almost coming to an end, the Owls will continue to soar.
