Jennifer Lawrence’s nude photos leaked

Privacy is something that seems to be violated again and again these days. Especially if you’re a woman in Hollywood. Wherever these celebs seem to go to the gym, out with friends, or grocery shopping- there is someone constantly watching and waiting for them. The paparazzi, for example, have proved to be as relentless as it gets with taking photos and asking the wrong questions against celeb’s will. Frustrating, right?

If you have a Twitter, Facebook, or pretty much any form of social media, you have probably heard about the massive nude photo leak that happened on Aug. 30. Celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande, and Kate Upton were exploited by having personal photos hacked and stolen from their cell phones and computers.

The list of celebrity women whose accounts were hacked consists of one hundred names. Some celebs have confirmed that the photos are in fact real. Jennifer Lawrence, actress-model Kate Upton and actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead all confirmed that the photos leaked are in fact real. Whereas actress Victoria Justice, singer Ariana Grande, and gymnast McKayla Maroney claimed that the photos are fake.

The hacker or hackers that are responsible for this massive photo leak broke into the celeb’s iCloud accounts, where all of the pictures were stored. Why the hacker(s) did this still remains unclear. Maybe there was a considerable amount of money involved, or maybe the hacker(s) are waiting for that one moment of self-aggrandizing glory that will probably never happen, considering what they have done is nothing but shameful.

Since this hack has been one of the largest as far as nude photographs go, the FBI’s branch in Los Angeles is investigating in hopes to find who is responsible in initiating the leak. Once the source is found, it is likely that they will be charged with a number of federal offenses. Some of the accessing protected computers without authorization, wiretapping, aggravated identity theft, and damaging protected computers.

Many of the celebrities whose photos were leaked have made statements addressing the photo scandal via Twitter. Victorious actress, Victoria Justice, tweets, “I am angry at this massive invasion of privacy,” Justice said, “and like the other women who are in this situation alongside of me, I am taking legal action to protect my rights.”

Justice is not the only celebrity who plans on pressing charges. Representatives for Lawrence intend to prosecute anyone who posts any of the stolen photos. This is because posting or even viewing these photos is contributing and perpetrating the injustice that these high profile women are now subject to.

Celebrities like Aubrey Plaza, Kim Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens, Rihanna, Lea Michele, Hilary Duff, and The Exes star, Cat Deeley are amongst the list of celebrities exploited as well. However, most of the celebs that appear on the list have yet to make a statement about the accusations.
