With the weather around us changing from warm to cold, we never know what type of apparel we should where from day to day. However, as the leaves are changing and it is getting darker earlier, we have to start thinking about staying warm and of course, stylish for this upcoming fall and winter; with this I mean coats.
In my opinion, coats can make an outfit complete, since that it was you first see on a person the majority of the time during these seasons. I will now introduce some of the most popular and stylish coats, that will compliment anyone’s fashion sense.
First, for the warmer, yet cool fall days, not so much dipping into the winter days, there is always a leather jacket. Leather jackets can be seen as a more edgy look, but can also be paired with any type of outfit, one that’s casual and one that may be a little more dressy. Leather jackets can be paired with a light sweater, some jeans or leggings, and a pair of booties.
Not only that, but if you’re looking to be a little more dressy, but it’s not quite warm enough to just where that sundress, pair a leather jacket over top with some thin tights, and you’ve got yourself a girly outfit with a hint of grunge. Yes, leather jackets can be a lot of money, with the store, True Religion selling them for $698 or worse, Yves Saint Laurent for $7,000. Now let’s be realistic and think of college student prices.
For a cute, stylish leather jacket, this can be found at Forever 21 anywhere between $39.80 and $47.80. Now that’s a little better.
Let’s say you have more of a preppy, girly style and want a coat to wrap up your outfit and make it a perfect staple. Pea coats are the way to go. If not familiar, pea coats are a thinner or thicker coat, depending on the fabric which is usually wool, that have buttons going down the middle. These coats are usually known for their “proper” look and that’s exactly what they give off. Pea coats can be found in all different colors and different lengths. Let’s say your style is more casual but want to make it a little more dressy. Slip on those jeans, some boots, a basic shirt, then add that pea coat and there you go.
Pea coats can also be pricy, but finding an affordable one is very easy. Stores like Forever 21 have them as low as $29.98 or if you’re looking to treat yourself, TopShop supplies them at prices starting at $158.
The last jacket I’m going to be talking about and probably one of the most popular one that has recently come back in style is the denim jacket. Now I know we all remember rocking them when we were little on the school playground, but they are back and great for this fall and winter. Denim jackets are perfect for those that like to keep the outfits more casual and even dressy.
Want to wear a dress but feel too dressed up? Put on a denim jacket to dress it down a bit. Wearing some black skinny jeans and a basic shirt? Add a denim jacket to complete that outfit. As like most of the coats, denim jackets can be found at a wide range of shops. American Apparel’s starting price is $125 and Urban Outfitters at $39.99.
So whatever coat or jacket you choose, make it something you feel most comfortable in and want to rock all season long.
