Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson in a “legal situation”

Bobby Martinez –  Sports Reporter

The last week has been one of the most controversial weeks in the NFL ever since former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice’s video of him striking his then-fiancé in the face in an elevator. But with that situation taking over every sports outlet, another major story is underway: Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been indicted on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child.

According to multiple reports, Montgomery County Sheriffs received the case earlier this year and Peterson has been cooperative with authorities. If you can recall last year, Peterson’s two-year-old son died in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after being allegedly assaulted by a man who was dating the boy’s mother.

After a few months since the tragedy, Peterson received confirmation stating he was the actual father of the two-year-old boy after reports stated that Peterson didn’t believe he was the actual father at first. Joseph Robert Patterson, was charged with murder and manslaughter.

After the entire league shared their condolences to Peterson, he said during an ESPN interview saying, “It’s just made me stop taking things for granted,” said Peterson, who turned 29 in March. “Life is short. You never know. You just want to take advantage of the time you do have.”

Peterson has not been arrested yet. The Viking have released a statement regarding their star running back stating, “The Vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson. At this time, we will defer any questions to Peterson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin.”
