Ask Annie! A (so-called) Hot, Confused Boyfriend

Dear Annie,

First and foremost I just want to say, I love you. I’ve written in a couple times over the semester and I don’t know what I’d do without your quirky advice! And of course, I have another problem to deal with. If my girlfriend knew I just told you I love you, it might result in another fight, so let’s just keep that between us.

However, school is crazy right now and I don’t have a lot of time at all. I’ve been seeing my girlfriend since October, but I think it might be time to call it quits. She is going back home to Rhode Island and I live right here in New Haven. Yeah, I know that it’s not that far, but I don’t know if the “love” can survive the long distance. Especially if I’m ever out with my boys one night and feeling tied down is something I don’t want at all.

Now Annie, I know deep down I should probably end it with my girlfriend, it’s just, well the sex is the best I ever had. I know that’s not a strong enough reason to stay in the relationship. But what do you think, I love everything you say and need to hear it one last time before school is over, help me baby!

Sincerely,

A Hot, Confused Boyfriend

Dear, A (so-called) Hot, Confused Boyfriend,

Well, okay suga, it seems like ya got a good head on your shoulders where you know deep down you should end the relationship. So if that is what you’re feeling spinning up inside you, then go it. Because if you don’t it, sounds like one of you might end up cheating on each other if your “love” is not strong enough.

Or if you say you love me, you’ll meet me and want to date me. But that means you’ll have to find me of course, handsome.

Yeah, good sex just adds to the amazingness of a relationship. But if that’s the only thing in the relationship that’s keeping it going, and the so-called ‘best you ever had,’ then some would say it’s worth it stay in the relationship. But who are you kidding? It’s not. There is more to relationships than good sex. I’ve argued this point to many people and stick by it. Alright, honey?

It also seems you want to explore the field a bit more and what better time to do that is in the summer, when the livin’ is easy! Do what you gotta do and be happy. But remember loverboy, wrap the monkey before you get funky.

Love,

Annie

  • There is a greater tendency to over compensate when you are looking to compensate for a perceived fault in any given relationship.
By doing this, your ex starts to think the worst: that you no longer need him.
The truth is that it will make you more unattractive in the eyes of your ex boyfriend.
