‘This is real life right now’

My friend always speaks her mind and if she has a problem with anything, you bet she’ll let you know. She has this one phrase that she breaks out and says, “This is real life right now.” The phrase is usually followed with a crazy story, involving strange circumstances that don’t seem to ever happen to anyone—but her.

Yes, this is real life right now. Her phrase couldn’t hold anymore fire, especially when it’s time to graduate college. I still am finding myself saying “wait, what” after I see the words graduate and college in one sentence together. I like this college bubble I’ve been living in for the past four years and don’t want to give any of it up.

I’m addicted to fun an get tinsel strands tied into my hair from my hairdresser. Yet, I’m about to graduate and be introduced to what life is like outside of Southern.

I love being in school and this won’t be the end of my education, but all the memories and lessons I learned here are utterly priceless.

On the last day of class–in that one that you absolutely can’t stand–and walking out of the classroom door, there is one overwhelming feeling of total joy that comes over you.

And the feeling will remain there for the whole evening as you are bar hopping your way up Crown Street; taking those shots and making those rounds.

The bad days are just as memorable.

But this is real life right now and for those who have seen Dazed and Confused (aka one of the greatest movies ever made…maybe that title is a bit dramatic) follow the following advice: “Let me tell you this, the older you do get the more rules they’re gonna try to get you to follow. You just gotta keep livin’ man, L-I-V-I-N.”

Yup, a good rule to follow in life. Congratulations to the graduating class of 2013.
